Who We Are
An Adelaide community based, not for profit association, with a volunteer board established in 2000. YouthJET operates from the CBD and provides services to young people across metropolitan Adelaide.
YouthJET aims to improve the career services for young people and to assist them to make a successful transition into a career.
YouthJET is funded through contracts with the state and federal government, sponsorship from industry and individuals and philanthropic grants
Programs include:
- Career services from the career centre in Hutt Street and also at Marden Senior College.
- Youth Train offers training programs for Young people and professionals working with Young People.
- short courses for young people including disabled, disadvantaged and those at risk. The courses aim to give them an edge to gain employment.
- Short courses targeting new arrivals and refugees, assisting them to gain employment to assist them to continue with study.
- Employability skill development and Training for young people with disabilities, aimed at assisting them to gain open employment.
- Career and Transition Support – improving access and services for all young people
- Career and Life Coaching - available to individuals and groups
- Industry based Career Evenings for students and parents.
- Innovative week long experiences for young people to investigate a specific industry, gaining pathway and career support.
Objectives of the Association
- To develop links between local employers, schools, TafeSA, universities, parents, young people, job network members, registered training providers, industry representatives, government departments and other groups, which assist young people to acquire the skills needed to succeed in a continuously changing workplace and to transition from school.
- To seek appropriate funding for young people, particularly those with special needs and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, in order to support them in their transition from school.
- To facilitate programs that assist young people in their transition from school.
- To provide direct relief for young people with special needs and from disadvantaged backgrounds, through financial assistance, mentoring and education in order to support them in their transition from school - with the aim of achieving gainful paid employment .

OBJECTIVE I: Branding & Marketing
- YouthJET will be recognized as the peak body in Adelaide for Youth Careers
Enabling Strategies:
- Use relevant media and communication methods to engage young people
- Increase the flow of information regarding career and transition services to stakeholders
- Establish a Board who actively promotes YouthJET and it’s services
- Engage industry and community champions to raise the profile of YouthJET
- Partner with youth and community service providers to increase exposure
- Increase the membership of youth agencies
- Leverage marketing strategies with stakeholders..
OBJECTIVE II: Financial Viability
- YouthJET will maintain financial viability and manage a sustainable expansion that continues to enable the delivery of high quality services to clients.
Enabling Strategies:
- Focus on value for money where the most effective outcomes are delivered
- Maintain existing funding through developing quality outcomes and fulfilling contractual responsibilities
- Pursue new contracts to increase services to young people.
- Develop a core income base independent of government funding.
- Incorporate fundraising into board and operational business as a staff retention policy to assist with financing gaps to remain sustainable.
OBJECTIVE III: Organisational Capacity
- YouthJET will maintain and extend the organizational capacity and capability, which allows it to provide quality services to clients.
Enabling Strategies:
- Develop and implement quality procedures and processes
- Ensure the association has an innovation strategy
- Review and improve structures and policies
- Encourage and support staff and board with professional development
- Develop organizational structures to allow for succession planning
- Conduct research in partnership with appropriate bodies.
- Develop a port folio of contractors to broaden available skill sets
- Conduct self audits annually against these current criteria
Use best practice in the utilization of information technology
OBJECTIVE IV: Partnerships and Alliances
- YouthJET will be the focal organization across the local community that develops and maintains key partnerships and alliances which enhance career and transition services for young people.
Enabling Strategies:
- Develop services with mission critical partners which provide mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Ensure strategies and structures are in place for partnership planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Manage communication with partners to assist the flow of information and opportunities for young people
- Work with partners to increase capacity and promote YouthJET services to young people
OBJECTIVE V: Services
- YouthJET will consolidate services related to existing contracts and expand services that assist young people into a career.
Enabling Strategies:
- Monitor, evaluate and improve the current services provided.
- Develop programs that target underprivileged and disengaged young people.
- Develop services based on the core focus of career development and young people.
